JUXTAPOSITION recap

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

What a wonderful year of fearless bridal shoots for the JUXTAPOSITION project. Many thanks to all who followed through on their photo sessions and introduced me to wonderful new locations around Boston.

And ummm… this dress-trashing session in NYC looks so perfect. I have always wanted to go to Coney Island for a shoot. Takers? And, if you need to convince your husband or anyone else why you’d want to do a shoot like that, just show him that crazy video. Pretty sure he’d be willing to take off work for that. Or, um, show this one. (Day-um stillmotion, you guys continue to amaze.)

Bella | NYC bridal session

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I did this trade with Bella when I was looking for someone to do bridals in New York City with me during a trip to the city (for a seminar with Yervant and Joe Buissink). We had a lot of fun with the session, and really punked it up at the end. A lot of time has passed since I took these photos in May! Sorry it took so long Bella.

Sometimes I love the passerby/outtake photos from a city session even more than the photos we originally intended. Check out old man with tinted glasses, man with book in grand central, small girl in stroller, and distinguished NYC couple.

Jenn + Pete :: NYC bridals

NYC destination wedding photographer

I was thrilled at a chance to shoot with delightful Long Island wedding photographer Laura Ryan awhile ago. (You’ve already seen some of my favorite images here.) Jenn and Pete did some post-wedding bridals with us all over the place in NYC… I have so many favorites I have to post a bunch…

Seriously, there are a TON of great images. Check out the rest of the session here. The photos are all mixed up, but it’s funny to see the ones where we got a little goofy in the middle-end of the session. Like the one of Pete hanging out of the tree.

destination: NYC

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Today I had one of the very best bridal sessions I’ve had in awhile, thanks to Long Island’s Laura Ryan who invited me to join her for a very well thought out session in the city. We met up at Grand Central Station, then took the subway to the Met, and frolicked around central park. I generally try to avoid cliché city locations, but with NYC the same place is never the same shot, even if you just wait like 10 seconds it is completely different.

Without a doubt, my session favorite was a collaboration between Laura and I coaching the high school field trip through the central park tunnel around Jenn and Pete. They were so loud and enthusiastic, J + P had no idea there were like 50 kids coming from behind!
