Oh, I would SO love to be an assistant for a shoot, if I only I lived in Boston! But let me know if you're ever in a two hour radius of Indy and I would do it! Oh, also, I have got to say, after seven years of living in apartments, I totally agree with "anti-beige." That's clever - I just may have to use that.

GALLERY suggestions...
the only photography gallery i know of is Gallery Kayafas in the south end. the owner/curator is very nice. give it a try! http://www.gallerykayafas.com/

oh, oh! and the photographic resource center at BU. i saw a great, juried photography exhibition there over the summer. http://www.bu.edu/prc

we have a great cafe in our neighborhood that displays local art (i'm just not sure you'd make a lot of sales there, if that's what you're going for...): http://www.303cafe.com

BOOTH staging...
pier 1 is great for affordable decor with an ethnic twist -- i would definitely check out their curtains and other fabric items. and maybe this is obvious, but you might do well with some of the textiles that urban outfitters carries, though you'd want to make sure it doesn't look like a dorm room.

more pricey is ten thousand villages (locations in brookline and cambridge) -- they usually have some tabletop textiles and wall hanging art.

hey, why don't you just head to a Joann's and get yourself a couple of yards of some great fabric? If you're not into sewing, you could hem it with some Stitch Witchery!

you could always buy some big IKEA Ribba frames (cheap!) and use them to create wall art by framing some great, ethnic-looking paper from Paper Source (check out the indian prints line), then hang them on the back of your stall. you could even intersperse some of your images among them! apartment therapy tutorial on hanging art in groups here: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/at-email/how-to-hang-art-in-groups-like-kate-spade-050872

mmkay. getting thoroughly carried away now. stopping.

Krista - good thinking! I'll have to figure out how to get something like that. I think sarees might have special significance though, so I wouldn't want to be disrespectful or something.

Jenn - you KNOW I want to have you come out. let's talk. when are you headed back to NYC?

Saris!! They're ethnic, gorgeous, and super long so you can get a lot of use out of them. My friend is a musician and decorates his CD table with a gorgeous brown sari. It looks awesome...
